What refund clusters reveal about the unlock moment

Grouping refunds by tenure and entry point often exposes a mismatch between promise and delivery.

Refunds are rarely evenly spread. They cluster by offer type, by how long someone held the entitlement, and by the path that brought them to the purchase screen.

When we prepare a refund pattern briefing, we sort cases into early regret (within a day), mid-tenure disappointment, and late-cycle exits. Early regret often tracks with surprise about what was unlocked. Mid-tenure issues more often relate to ongoing usefulness.

Entry point matters too. Buyers who arrived from a deep-linked offer may hold different expectations than those who discovered the same SKU through browsing. Mixing those groups hides the real story.

Share findings with both product and support teams. Support hears the language of disappointment first; product controls the unlock presentation. Bridging those two views is where refund briefings earn their keep.
